Faroe Islands is situated between Iceland and Norway north-west from Scotland in the heart of the Gulf Stream in the northern Atlantic Ocean on 62°00N.


The country is 113 km long and 75 km wide - 136 km2 in total spread on 18 islands - 17 of these is occupied.

There are 1.289 km of coastal line and nowhere on the islands are you longer away from the ocean than 5 km.

The highest fell "Slættaratindur" is 882 m. The average altitude is 300 m.

Aprox. 48.000 people live on Faroe Islands hereof 18.000 in Torshavn - the capital.

The climate is island tempered with rapid changing weather. See the sun from a clear sky and in the next minute the weather is cloudy and rainy.

Average temperature in May is 7 degrees.
